Its been an eventful time at Foodscapades this past week. Starting off with the realization that in a few day’s time ( 6 days from now, to be precise) it will be a year since I started writing this blog. It’s hard to imagine that so much time has literally flown by. What started off as a way to keep my mind off the fear and uncertainty for the future that was 2020’s calling card, has somehow morphed into something else…A place where real, flesh-and-blood people actually come to try out my (often-improvised) kitchen shenanigans. THAT realization, came with a mixture of joyous excitement and the inevitable dark, doubtful whispers asking ”Are you sure this is the path you want to tread?”
Then on Wednesday, a surprise giveaway for Foodscapades from Try cooked, answered, “YES!”
The encouragement of seeing a local food brand making strides in the industry through innovation and intuitively meeting the needs of the people cannot be understated. Try Cooked‘s offering is healthy meals delivered to your doorstep in the form of fresh ingredients with clear and easy-to-follow recipes. The ingredients are already portioned out and prepped to let you enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal in no time.
I was also delighted to see handwritten instructions detailing which items needed to be refrigerated inside the meal kit. It lends such a personal touch to the experience.

We tried the “Buttermilk roast chicken Lemon and roast potatoes” and we loved it! The tangy flavors of the pitted olives and juicy cherry tomatoes contrast beautifully with the delicately flavored chicken and new potatoes. The only downside is that it was all over too soon. 🙂
Kudos chef John and Try cooked!
